The Youth Count is 1 of the 5 major components of the Homeless Count. Unlike the Street Count, the Youth Count is a survey-based count as youth experiencing homelessness are harder to identify. Trained surveyors partner with lived experience youth to locate and identify those living on the streets.
The Youth Count provides a snapshot of how many unaccompanied youth under the age of 18 (without a parent or guardian), and transition age young adults (age 18-24) are experiencing homelessness on any given night throughout the Los Angeles area.
